The Anti-Aging Effects of Goji and Other Herbs

Friday, June 27th, 2008

Herbs that have a reverse effect on aging (hence the name anti aging) have been in great demand for countless centuries if not thousands of years. One would assume that for the most part of the past several millennia, the efforts were mostly in vain as the science of medicine was in its infancy. Chances are that charlatans and snake oil sales men were the only ones who benefited from these efforts.

Fortunately, the science of counteracting the effects of aging has come a long way. This is partly because we have discovered the existence of free-radicals, which is a group of chemical compounds that will effect the body’s ability to regenerate. If the body can’t regenerate like it is supposed to, it will age faster.

Now, I have been bashing ancient people in the first part of this article for their perceived lack of medical knowledge, but the truth is the some of them were onto something. The have discovered healing plants that, among other things, had anti aging effects. One such plant is the goji berry. It is a small, orange-red fruit that the Chinese have been using for a long time for a great many things including for its anti aging properties.

Ginkgo biloba is another plant that will have positive effect on short term memory if nothing else. That could be considered an anti aging effect as memory loss is usually associated with advancing years.

Bilberry and blue berry are said to improve eyesight, another aging related ill effect. Berries in general have the tendency to reduce the levels of free radicals.

Soy and red clover also have anti-aging properties.

Goji Juice Diabetes – Goji Cures Diabetes?

Goji Juice Diabetes – Goji Cures Diabetes?Goji Juice Diabetes. Goji Juice lowers blood sugar in certain cases. Quite a few people have reported that after taking goji juice on a regular basis, their blood sugar level dropped to a level where they had to cut back on their medication.

While these testimonials are anecdotal, dismissing them would be a mistake. There is no reason to assume that unsolicited testimonials about the effect of goji juice on a person’s diabetes are false or a downright lie. I must be said, though, that medical science is skeptical at best about the effects of goji juice in general at this point. That includes whatever effect the substance may have on diabetes.

However, the scientific community is playing catch up at this point, since there haven’t been a lot of studies done regarding the goji juice diabetes relationship. Doctors and especially medical researchers are known to be in the back pockets of major pharmaceutical companies whom have an incentive against anything that can’t be put a patent on. Even if there was a strong goji juice diabetes connection, it is quite possible that special interest groups would try to discredit these findings, suppress them or, at least, try to delay the adaptation of the substance by the general public by any means necessary.

There is at least one medical doctor who, while skeptical, is willing to entertain the goji juice diabetes connection, simply because he has had a patience whose blood sugar level dropped after she started to take goji. He also says that he has knowledge of research where goji juice had an affect on diabetes in animals. The research suggests that the substance helped with the condition by lowering the need to rely on insulin to manage blood sugar levels. Read his article here.

In traditional Chinese medicine, it is also listed as a possible treatment for diabetes among a lot of other things.

One thing people should be aware of, perhaps, is that we cannot discount the possibility of the placebo effect. It is quite possible that people talking about the effect goji juice might have on diabetes people managed to summon their bodies’ natural, but still very little understood, self-healing powers. It is still a great thing and definitely better than the alternative.

In the final analysis, one needs to be real careful about risking what may even be their very life. Diabetes should not be taken lightly and you should not through your insulin in the garbage just yet. However, if goji juice does have an effect on diabetes, it would be foolish to argue with results.

Can The Healing Properties of Himalayan Goji Juice Help College Students?

Can the Himalayan Goji Juice Help College Sudents?College students are under an awful lot of pressure. Stress in tougher schools has been known to effect the health of students adversely. Some experience the ill effects of this stress for a long time after they finish their studies and, in some cases, for the rest of their lives. (Pressure to do well in school has been known to push some people over the edge and even drive them to attempt suicide, which in some cases are successful.) Here is a student’s blog that talks about some of these issues called Jayant’s World.

Himalayan goji juice has been shown to help with minimizing and even reversing the damaging effects of stress. Its being a berry, meaning the goji berry – the main ingredient in the Himalayan goji juice, is known to reduce the levels of free radicals in the body. Free radicals are responsible for lowering the PH level of one’s physiology thus increasing its acidity that basically wear the body down making it less likely to effectively counter act diseases and age faster. By taking goji products on a regular basis, one can limit the effects of stress on the body and college students are no exception.
