Now You Can Buy Property on the Moon?
I have come across an interesting website today. It offers moon property for sale. I didn’t know you could do that. I have included screenshot of the site in this post. It’s amazing what you can do these days. I know that you could include your name on a list that will end up on a satellite in space. That was kind of cool I thought, and you can do this for free.
If you want in, you can buy an acre on the Moon for less than $35. It seems that they are targeting people who are looking for a different gift for a friend or loved one. There are even packages for couples for adjacent properties that you could give as a romantic gift. In return for your $30 or so, you get a certificate.
Right now it may seem somewhat frivolous trying to divide the surface of the Moon into chunks, but the day may very well come that a trip to the Moon is not out of the reach of the messes in the developed world. You may want to go there just for the heck of it, or there may be also reasons to take to the moon for commercial ones like mining and such.
The technology that will allow us to get into space for about as much as an overseas trip would cost is just around the corner. Seriously. You may have heard of carbon nano tubes. They have managed to get the carbon atom to form small tubes that kind of look like Chinese finger traps. This material is supposed to be very strong and very light. Strong enough, as a matter of fact, that they could be used to serve as a cable for a space elevator.
